Just a one hour scenic drive from Santa Cruz domestic and international airports, along the paved road to Cochabamba and La Paz, Buenavista makes a great weekend break. If you are visiting Bolivia from abroad and are wanting to experience South America´s newest travel hotspot for community based eco tourism and volunteering opportunities, Buenavista is the jumping off point for numerous projects including Candalaria, UNAPEGA and the famous wild animal refuge Inti Warri Yassi.

Jungle trekking, traditional cooking courses, horse riding, spa pampering, coffee plantation tours in the coffee region, bike tours, indigenous community visits or just relaxing in a spa or by the pool of one of the town´s luxury eco-resorts are just some of the activities on offer.

Buena vista is at the northern entrance to Amboro National Park where you can take a guided tour to view some of South America´s most sort after native wildlife including toucans, pumas, jaguars, macaws, giant anteaters, armadill´s, caiman and even an anaconda if you are lucky. Or if you would prefer, swim in crystal clear waterfalls and walk amongst ancient giant ferns that are over 900 years old.

Have you recently been to Cusco, lake Titicaca, Salar de uyuni and Machupichu in South America and are tired of the cold mountain weather then come to the tropical part of Bolivia and enjoy the sunny and warm popular place of Buena vista.

It’s easy getting to Buenavista, from Santa Cruz there are shared taxis, and on the same new safe road there are buses from the other direction of Cochabamba that take eight hours. To Santa Cruz you arrive easily from other countries such as Brasil, for example via Quijaroo with the death train or direct flights from Sao Paolo to the international and domestic airport. From Argentina there are flights from Buenos Aires and Salta, as well buses regularly from the border of Yacuiba. From overseas there are direct flights to Santa Cruz from several places such as Miami, Frankfurt and Madrid.
